Mansis
overview
They call themselves maan´s´i, maan´s´i maahum, män´ s´. Their neighbours Khants and Zyryan Komis call them Voguls, a name which has spread wider with the help of Russian language. The word mansi is in use starting from 1785 when it was mentioned in Russian chronicles and it became widespread in Russia from 1920's.
